Two generations, one showroom, no veneer
Halden opened on Lake Street in 2011 because Anne Halden got tired of selling furniture she would not put in her own house. She had spent eleven years at a chain store watching solid wood disappear from the floor and particleboard take its place, at the same prices.
So we sell one kind of thing: furniture built from solid hardwood by workshops we have visited. Twelve of them, in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Ontario. We know the people who build what is on our floor, and when something goes wrong we call them directly.
The showroom is deliberately small. We would rather carry sixty pieces we can stand behind than four hundred we cannot.

We bought a dining table here in 2018 and it has survived two kids and a dog. Went back last month for bedroom furniture and the same person remembered us.Marisol T.
They talked me out of the more expensive sofa. Explained exactly why the cheaper frame was right for my room. That is why I came back for the bookcases.Dan R.
Custom table, eleven weeks, arrived exactly as quoted. The delivery crew took their shoes off without being asked.Priya N.
